The gun rides high in the oscillating turret, and so you don’t actually have to expose a lot of it if you are in a hull down position. The armour profile is patchy, and full of holes even against Medium tanks, but it has all kinds of strange curves and angles that makes it difficult to get a clear shot at it: Looking at the T57 in Armour Inspector or on Blitzhangar, the armour doesn’t look all that impressive, and it’s not. Learning how to play a top tier autoloader can be a bit of a struggle, and having the ability to bounce a few shots will keep you alive longer so you can learn a little more every battle. It’s a bit more forgiving to drive, so you can focus on managing your reloads to full effect. You don’t see much of the T57 in tournaments, which may seem a little counter intuitive, but the simple reason is the AMX is faster and can move its damage potential across the map more efficiently.įor the average player, however, I would argue the T57 is the right choice. This became especially apparent when the T57 armour got buffed, further cementing the differences in playstyle between what are, on the face of it, two fairly similar vehicles. The two autoloader Heavy tanks have been adjusted back and forth a few times now, but the real difference isn’t between the weapons, but between the tanks themselves.

As it turned out, not having any turret armour to speak of can make the AMX a bit of a punish to drive, but that’s for another paper. I figured I didn’t need both, and as the 50 B is much quicker, I settled on grinding out that one. The reason, as far as I recall, was I just got tired of those American autoloaders, and there was the other option to consider, being the AMX 50 B. I got as far as the T69 before I called it quits. It’s certainly one of the most intimidating looking tanks in the game, perfectly suited to playing the villain, and I was actually on my way to grind it a while back. I may have seen it before, but that was the first time I took serious note of it. The first time I saw the T57 Heavy was in a WoT cinematic video made by the inimitable 06Wallst of Honest Gaming, later featuring the Mighty Jingles.
